MEDIA STATEMENT
27 August 2026
News of horrific flash floods Nepal-China is devastating.
My thoughts are with all those who have lost loved ones and those still missing.
We are particularly concerned by reports that Australians are among those unaccounted for and our thoughts are with their families and friends during this incredibly difficult time.
I understand that DFAT officials are urgently working to confirm the welfare of Australians in the area.
Australians in need of emergency consular assistance should contact the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s 24-hour Consular Emergency Centre on 1300 555 135, or +61 2 6261 3305 (if calling from overseas).
