Australia Day is a time to celebrate and recognise what it is to be Australian, united under one flag.
Australia Day is a day of unity, to celebrate our democracy, our values of freedom and equality, and our ‘way of life’ which is the envy of the world.
This Australia Day, I will be awarding a very special Australian Flag which was flown in the Australian Parliament’s House of Representatives Chamber. One Fairfax resident* will come to own a piece of Australian history.
The 2.15m x 1.04m fully material flag is ideally suited for a flagpole, but can also have pride of place framed and hung on a wall. It comes with an authentication certificate, signed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
The recipient will be drawn on 22 January and will be made public prior to Australia Day.
