Many families across Coolum and the Sunshine Coast are doing it tough right now. Whether it’s the price of groceries, electricity bills or prescription medicines, the cost of living has skyrocketed – and locals are feeling the pinch.
When people are forced to choose between putting food on the table or refilling a script, something has gone terribly wrong. Under Labor, it’s never been more expensive or harder to see a doctor. Bulk billing rates have collapsed, and 1.5 million Australians avoided a GP visit last year because they simply couldn’t afford it.
This is heartbreaking.
A Dutton led LNP Government will act decisively to fix Labor’s health crisis and deliver real cost-of-living relief.
We will invest an historic $9 billion into Medicare to restore bulk billing and ensure that families across the Sunshine Coast can see a doctor when they need to – not just when they can afford to.
We will also guarantee cheaper medicines, lowering the PBS co-payment to $25 to make essential prescriptions more affordable for everyone, including pensioners, young families, and those doing it tough.
These commitments build on the Coalition’s proud legacy when it comes to looking after the health and wellbeing of Australians – from listing 2,900 new or amended medicines on the PBS when in Government, to establishing the $22 billion Medical Research Future Fund, and increasing hospital funding by 16 per cent.
The Sunshine Coast deserves better than the health and cost-of-living chaos we’ve seen under Anthony Albanese.
Only the Coalition has a clear plan, backed by proven economic management, to strengthen Medicare, lower the cost of medicines, and get our country back on track.
No one in our community should have to choose between their health and their hip pocket.
