COMMUNITY GROUPS IN FAIRFAX ENCOURAGED TO GET THEIR GREEN THUMBS READY!

Local News

Our local community, landcare, environment and other natural resource management groups can now apply for funding to help restore our local environment in Fairfax, under the Federal Government’s $5 million Environment Small Grants opportunity.

The Government is providing the grants under Phase 2 of its National Landcare Program, to help communities deliver natural resource management activities that improve the quality of their local environment.

Local groups and individuals in Fairfax can now apply for grants to deliver activities such as invasive pest and weed management, revegetation, erosion control, community engagement, and Indigenous land management planning.

“Our region is blessed to have such beautiful parks and landscapes and it is important to protect and preserve them for future generations.

“I strongly encourage all interested groups and organisations to put their hands up for one of these grants to help keep the Sunshine Coast beautiful.”

Applicants have until 19 March 2018 to apply for funding of between $5,000 and $50,000 for each project. The small grants will be allocated through a one-off grant in the 2017-18 financial year.
