Small businesses in the Sunshine Coast will have the opportunity to learn about preparing for and becoming resilient to disruption at the Thriving Through Change Business Resilience Expo today.

Federal Member for Fairfax, Ted O’Brien said the Sunshine Coast Council event is funded by the Australian Government under the $60 million Immediate Bushfire Assistance to Local Governments program.

“Thriving Through Change is a great example of the Commonwealth working together with local government to help our businesses and communities better prepare for natural disasters and other major challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic,” Mr O’Brien said.

“Our small business operators and owners are the backbone of the local economy. They have demonstrated incredible resilience during recent tough times – from bushfire to COVID-19. It has not been easy.

“Resilience and the capacity to adapt and grow following disruption is crucial to running a business that can recover quickly and build back better from major challenges – be it COVID-19, severe weather events, cyber-attacks, or construction and road upgrades.

“Featuring guest speakers, expert panels and networking opportunities, this expo will arm businesses with the practical information, tools and resources they need to prepare for disruption and plan for a prosperous future.”

The Thriving Through Change Business Resilience Exhibition will be held at the Wandiny Room, Sunshine Coast Convention Centre at Twin Waters and includes three components:

6.45am – 10am ‘Leading through Change’ Breakfast session (booking required) 10am – 4pm ‘Thriving through Change’ Exhibition (no booking required) 4pm – 6pm ‘Together through Change’ Networking event (booking required) Businesses are welcome to attend one or all sessions.
