In a keynote address to the AFR’s Energy and Climate Summit in Sydney this week, I laid out a long term vision of a decarbonised Australia that does not comprise our nation’s wealth, strength and freedom.
I also outlined my view that the current pathway to decarbonisation risks leaving Australia poorer, weaker and captive to the interests of nations other than our own.
The key question is “how” we decarbonise and I believe the answer lies in solutions that back technology, entrepreneurship and enterprise.
One potential solution is for nuclear to be part of our future energy mix. Now is the time to talk nuclear and my speech explained why.
