A Dutton-led LNP Government will deliver $1 million to the Maroochy Surf Life Saving Club to develop a training and gymnasium centre.
The major redevelopment of the club will include new female dormitories and change rooms to support growing female participation among members, as well as interstate and international visitors.
Federal Member for Fairfax, Ted O’Brien, today announced the commitment to support a new generation of rescue-ready personnel.
“The Sunshine Coast is a world-class destination, and so we require world-class facilities,” Mr O’Brien said.
“Our volunteer surf lifesavers are fundamental to beach safety, and their work is vital not just for our community, but for tourism and our local economy.
“For decades, the Maroochy Surf Life Saving Club has protected locals and visitors alike. This funding will support the club’s development as it attempts to keep pace with the Sunshine Coast’s rapid growth, ensuring a highly skilled, ready-to-respond volunteer force for years to come.
“With these vital upgrades, the Maroochy Surf Life Saving Club will continue its legacy of innovation, excellence, and life-saving service, reinforcing its reputation as one of Australia’s leading surf clubs.”
