Many constituents have contacted my office seeking details of the upcoming Referendum on changing Australia’s Constitution.

As more information is made available from the Australian Electoral Commission, I will update this page.

As of 29 Sept 2023:

Date of referendum: 14 October 2023

Issue of writ: 11 Sept 2023

Postal Vote Applications open: 11 Sept 2023. Apply for a postal vote HERE.

Enrollment deadline: 18 Sept 2023 – you MUST enroll to vote by this date. CLOSED

Start of remote voter services: Mon 25 Sept. Check the schedule for remote voting HERE.

Start of early voting in QLD: Tues 3 Oct (after the Mon public holiday). You can check your nearest pre-poll location HERE.

Residential care facilities: If you live in a residential care facility, the managers of your facility may have applied for a mobile voting team to visit you – pls check with them directly. The other option is to apply for a postal vote which you can do HERE.

Postal vote applications close: 6pm, Wed 11 Oct

Voting overseas: You have two options – 1. vote at an overseas polling station, or 2. apply for your postal vote to be sent to a specified overseas pick up location. We understand most Australian Embassies and High Commissions will be polling centres (both pre-poll and voting day) for Australian citizens to vote. Check for a polling station (or location you can pick up your postal vote), HERE.

Telephone voting: There are limited circumstances where you can vote via telephone. Read more HERE.

Last day for receipt of postal votes: Fri 27 Oct
