Royal Commission in to aged care quality and safety

Local News

Thank you to everyone who attended my Aged Care Forums. It has been a humbling process, both in terms of the stories and experiences being told, as well as a shared sense of purpose and vision of how the aged care sector can improve into the future. I am now in the process of analysing and collating the forum notes into an electorate wide submission to the Royal Commission.

A dedicated website for the Royal Commission has now been established and I encourage everyone to review the Terms of Reference and consider making a direct submission. Click below to access the Royal Commission’s website:

Thank you

As a community we expect a high standard when it comes to the care and safety of our elderly and young Australians with disability living in residential aged care settings. The Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety will proactively determine what we need to do in the future to ensure these expectations can be met.

We have a higher than average ageing population on the Sunshine Coast, with one in five residents aged over 65 and so it’s vital that this region has its voice heard on this issue.

If you live in Fairfax, Ted is seeking your feedback and input into an electorate-wide submission to the Royal Commission. Ted is hosting three forums to distil issues affecting clients, their families and friends; those working in the aged care sector; and providers of aged care services.

Come and have your say!

Mr O’Brien invites Fairfax constituents to one of three forums to workshop issues and contribute to an electorate-wide submission to the Royal Commission into aged care quality and safety.

Forum numbers are strictly limited. Please register to secure your spot at one of the following three sessions:

1. Clients, families and friends – 11.30am-2pm, Tuesday 30 October 2018 at the CWA Hall at 12 Short Street, Nambour

2. Aged Care sector workers – 3.30-6pm, Tuesday 30 October 2018 at the CWA Hall at 12 Short Street, Nambour

3. Aged Care service providers – 1.30-3.30pm, Wednesday 31 October 2018 at the CWA Hall at 12 Short Street, Nambour
