The Federal Minister for Health, the Hon Greg Hunt MP, recently visited Bloomhill Cancer Care in Buderim. The Minister subsequently announced that the Commonwealth would decline an offer from the Queensland State Government help fund places at the Sunshine Coast Medical School (the Commonwealth will instead fully fund it themselves) if the State would reallocate that money to fund the work of Bloomhill (approx $165,000 per year).
This offer represents a reallocation of money already committed and should not come at any extra cost to the State. While accepting this offer from the Commonwealth should be an easy decision, Bloomhill is still waiting for a decision from the State. Let’s therefore pull together as a community and send the State Government a message – SUPPORT BLOOMHILL.
