The House of Representatives Standing Committee on the Environment and Energy has called for submissions for an inquiry into two Bills to establish an Australian Local Power Agency (ALPA).
Chair of the Committee, Mr Ted O’Brien MP, said “These Bills propose to create a new agency that would fund and support community-based energy projects.
“The Committee looks forward to hearing the views of the Australian people, businesses and other organisations, about the viability and merits of this proposal so we can provide informed advice to Parliament.”
The Bills, the Australian Local Power Agency Bill 2021 and Australian Local Power Agency (Consequential Amendments) Bill 2021, sponsored by Dr Helen Haines MP, were referred to the Committee by the House of Representatives on 24 February 2021 for its inquiry and report.
Members of the public who wish to contribute to the inquiry are invited to make a submission. (Submissions must be relevant to the terms of the Bills.)
Details about the Bills and how to make a submission are available on the inquiry website www.aph.gov.au/LocalPowerAgency.
The preferred method of receiving submissions is by electronic format lodged online using a My Parliament account.
Submissions to the inquiry will be accepted until 9 July 2021.
