Climate Change and Energy Minister Chris Bowen’s speech to the National Press Club today failed to address the number one issue on the minds of Australian households and businesses – power prices.
Barely a month has passed since Labor went to the federal election promising to cut power prices, and already Mr Bowen cannot confirm that Labor will honour its promise.
Labor committed to deliver a cut to household power bills of $275 by 2025, and that is precisely what families and businesses across the country are now expecting from the Albanese Government.
The most notable aspect of Mr Bowen’s speech was his failure to mention any plan to reduce power bills.
If they had no plan to cut power bills, why did they look the Australian people in the eye last month and guarantee them that their power bills would be cut?
If they do have a plan, what is it?
