Statement from Ted O’Brien MP:
Sexual misconduct and the mistreatment of, or disrespect for, women is an issue that must be addressed.
Some of the recent reports emanating out of Parliament have included truly despicable behaviour, and that is not acceptable in any circumstances or anywhere.
Bullying and abuse should never be tolerated. Every person deserves to be treated with respect.
The people of Australia are angry, and rightly so.
We are now at a unique moment in time and the nation is calling for these serious and systemic issues to be tackled, and they must be.
